BOYCE PITCHES 5-INNINGS OF PERFECT BALL

Jimmy Boyce threw 5-innings of perfect baseball not allowing a runner to reach base on the way to defeating the Basin Bound Rocks 10-0 and ending the game with the mercy rule at the end of 5-innings.

With 2-outs in the top of the 1st Sam Leach and Brandon Mitchell drew back to back walks followed by Trey Tiffany being hit by a pitch to load the bases.  Jack Smith drew a base on bases forcing Sam in from 3rd.  Andrew Walling singled down the line at 1st scoring both Brandon and Trey giving Chaffey a 3-0 lead.

Chaffey scored 4-more runs in the top of the 2nd to take a 7-0 lead.  Colton Bunt and Kevin Nakahara hit back to back singles and Sam Leach drew a walk to load the bases.  Trey doubled into right center clearing the bases.  Jack doubled into right scoring Trey from second for Chaffey’s 4th run of the inning. Trey lead Chaffey on the offensive front going 3 for 3 with a double and 2 singles.

In the top of the 3rd, Chaffey scored its final 3 runs.  Carson Ryder opened the inning with a base on balls then Derek Lohr followed with an infield hit and Colton reached base on a fielding error to load the bases.  Kevin Nakahara hit a sac fly into right scoring Carson and moving Derek over to 3rd.  Sam Leach hit a fielder’s choice scoring Carson and moving Colton up to 3rd.  Brandon followed with a sac-fly into center scoring Colton and extending Chaffey’s lead to 10-0.

 

CHAFFEY DROPS 1-0 GAME TO THE WAVE

The Waves only run came in the bottom of the 3rd on back to back errors.  Lucas Chapman only allowed 2 infield hits on the way to the 1-0 loss.  Lucas threw the first 5 innings with Brandon Mitchell coming in and throwing the 6th.

Andrew Walling led Chaffey at the plate going 2 for 3 and Kevin Nakahara going 2 for 4.
