In Chaffey’s 2nd win in the Brandy Pugh Tournament it was a see-saw game from the start with 5-different score changes. Jake Mulholland went the distance spreading out 8-hits and not walking a batter on the way to the 9-6 win.
Chaffey opened the scoring up in the bottom of the 1st when Kevin Nakahara doubled into left center and scoring on Zach Nussbaum’s single up the middle.
In the top of the 2nd Vancouver scored a single run to knot the game at 1-1. In the bottom of the inning Michael Petrie lead off with a single into left and moved to third on a single by David Johnson into right field. Derek Lohr then hit a sac-fly into center scoring Michael from 3rd giving Chaffey a 1-run lead.
Vancouver scored 3-runs in the top of the 3rd taking a 4-2 lead. In the bottom of the frame Chaffey knotted the game at 4-a piece scoring 2-runs. Kevin reached base on a fielding error and stole 2nd. Matt Gretler then singled into right center scoring Kevin and cutting Vancouver’s lead to 1-run. Sam Leach then singled into right scoring Matt from 2nd knotting the game at 4-4.
Chaffey took the lead in the bottom of the 4th scoring 1-run. Derek singled up the middle and advanced to 2nd on a pass-ball. Kevin followed with a single into right center scoring Derek for a 5-4 lead.
In the bottom of the 5th Chaffey pushed 3-runs across the board taking an 8-4 lead. Drew Serres and Matt where both hit-by-pitch to lead off the 5th. Zach singled into left scoring with the ball being miss played scoring both Drew and Matt and allowing Zach to advance to 3rd. Michael bunted scoring Zach from 3rd for Chaffey’s 3rd-run of the inning.
The Cardinal’s bounced right back scoring 2-runs in the top of the 6th. Chaffey responded pushing 1-run across the plate, Kevin drew a base on balls and stole 2nd. Drew then hit a ball up the middle that was miss-played allowing Kevin to score from 2nd giving Chaffey a 9-6 lead.
On the offensive side Kevin went 2-for-3 with a double and scored 3-runs, Zach was 2-for-4 with a pair of RBI’s.
