Jimmy Boyce threw his 2nd shut-out of the Tournament for a 1-0 win over the Yakima Pepsi Pak in the Josh Anderson Memorial Tournament only allowing 1-hit over 7-innings.
The score remained knotted at 0-0 till the bottom of the 6th. With 1-out David Johnson singled into right, and took 2nd when the right fielder bobbled the ball and then stole 3rd. With 1-out Michael Petrie came in to pinch-hit for Derek Lohr. Michael hit sac-fly into right field – David tagged at 3rd and slid around the catcher for the winning run over Pepsi Pak.
Jimmy Boyce received honors for the tournament being the top pitcher of the tournament, throwing 13-innings of shut-out ball, striking out 13-hitters and only allowing 4-hits while walking 2-batters. Matt Gretler also named to the all-tournament team batting .467, team leading 7- RBI’s and not committing an error defensively. Lucas Chapman as the 2nd pitcher to receive honors threw a complete game shut-out, only allowing 2-hits and striking out 10 batters. Kevin Nakahara was named Tournament MVP or his outstanding defense, batting .500 and an on-base average of .588.
