Anchorage, AK. — South’s Max Karnos gave baseball fans a good look at the talent that earned him Cook Inlet Conference most valuable player honors. In Thursday’s opening round of the state baseball tournament at Mulcahy Stadium, the Wolverines downed Lathrop 2-0.
Karnos struck out 12 and allowed three hits in a complete-game over a seven-inning performance that lasted less than 90 minutes.
Both of South’s runs came in the bottom of the third inning and Karnos had a hand in each. He drove in Alec Valdez with a single and eventually came around to score on a passed ball.
Max was voted Cook Inlet Conference MVP after winning the State Championship.
