Josh Monroe will compete for the Gonzaga Bulldogs baseball team in the fall 2002. Josh attends Woodinville High School and will be playing his third year on the varsity team, and will be returning as their number one pitcher and also as an outfielder. Josh was named 1st team All-Kingco pitcher as a junior. During Chaffey’s summer and fall program he has been our most productive pitcher and was selected to participate in the Area Code Games last summer. He led our pitching staff with a 12-2 record, with an ERA of 1.68. Gonzaga is a great fit for Josh academically and will allow him to pursue a degree in Business and History.
Ben Mummy, as short stop at Meadowdale High School, has committed to play for the University of Nevada at Reno in the fall of 2002. Ben was Chaffey’s leading hitter last summer with a batting average of .486 (and at 16 years old!), playing on the corners and in the outfield as needed. As a three-year varsity player at Meadowdale, he will also be called on to throw relief this spring. Ben will be joining Mike Hass, who graduated from our program in the 2000 season and is presently starting in right field for University of Nevada and is their lead-off hitter. Ben will be pursuing a degree in Sports Medicine and is carrying a 3.4 GPA in High School.
