Arizona came into the series against the Beavers with a Pac-12 leading .324 batting average, which also placed the Wildcats second in the country. Moore, who finished with his first complete game since his freshman season in 2013, held Arizona to a fourth-inning run and surrendered a double, triple and three singles in the victory.
Moore faced the minimum through the first three innings, then retired nine of the last 10 batters he faced. He struck out eight en route to his fourth victory of the season.
The Wildcats managed to get runners in scoring position in just the fourth and sixth innings. In the fourth, Riley Moore singled home a run for just the third earned run scored against Moore in Pac-12 play this season. In the sixth, Moore issued an intentional walk to load the bases but got out of the jam with one of his eight strikeouts.
With the win, he improved to 4-1 on the year and his earned run average of 1.40 is second in the league and 13th nationally. Opponents are batting a league worst .186 against him. His WHIP of 0.81 is sixth-best in the nation.
It’s the third Pac-12 Pitcher of the Week honor of Moore’s career, with the first coming May 20, 2013.
