In November we started the fall workouts by breaking the players down in groups by positions to help maximize the individual work they could receive. The catchers and pitchers began working 2 to 3 times per week and the position players once a week. Multiple hitting sessions were also held on weekends.
As we neared the start of High School baseball we had several workouts inside at the Dempsey Center, University of Washington.
When Chaffey began preparing in fall for the 2013 season we knew we had the core group of defensive players back from last summer. We returned our entire starting infield with the return of Trever Morrison, Carson Breshears, Alex Hull and Michael Gretler. We also had two other young players, Kory Longaker and Tate Budnick, returning with great flexibility as utilities in multiple defensive positions.
We have added three outfielders this year with Bryce Peterson, Cooper Brunner and Jochim Soderqvist.
Sam Lee returned as the catcher and is coming back at full strength after missing the last half of last summer with a shoulder injury. Coming in this season, behind the plate, isConner O’Brien and Brendan Illies. Connor can also play 1st and Brendan can close on the mound. Brent Firth will come in and play 1st base and DH.
The core of our returning pitchers are made up of Sam Hellinger, Joe Boyce, Max Karnos, Christian Jarnigan and Ryan Budnick. All of them filled starting and relieving rolls last year. On the pitching side we have added some very strong arms with Brian Cullinan, Jack Cunningham, Joe Jacobson, and Jake Ross.
