Andrew Walling went 2-for-3 with 3-RBI’s to lead Chaffey over the Fairfield Expos 7-1 in the opening game of the Josh Anderson Memorial Tournament.
Chaffey started the scoring in the top of the 1st when Carter Booth reached 1st on an error, Matt Gretler singled into right moving Carter into 3rd, David Johnson had an infield single to load the bases, Andrew than doubled into left center clearing the bases and giving Chaffey a 3-0 lead.
In the top of the 3rd Chaffey added 2-more runs when Carter led off with a double into left, Matt Gretler followed with a base-on-balls, Jack Smith singled into left scoring Carter and moving Matt into 3rd, Andrew singled into left to load the bases, Marcus McCannel was hit by a pitch to force in Matt and extending Chaffey’s lead to 5-0.
Fairfield scored a single run to cut the lead to 5-1, Chaffey came right back in the 5th scoring 1-run, Jack was hit by a pitch and stole 2nd, Marcus singled into right to score Jack giving Chaffey a 6-1 lead.
Chaffey’s final run came in the 6th when Colton tripled off the left field wall and scored when Matt hit a sac fly into right.
Jacob Bogacz threw the first 5-innings only allowing 4-hits and a single run, Derek Lohr came in to close the game out not allowing a hit over 2-innings.
